Beware this post is LONG and contains my experience with buying this product + review
So I recently went to my local Missha store for BB cream and a lovely helpful sales girl was explaining the different types. Having always used the original Missha BB I thought id give a different one a try. Don't get me wrong I love my Missha BB cream to death as it work best on my skin and leaves it flawless dewy and has great coverage I just thought why not try something else?
So after looking at multiple different types she pointed me to the Sulwhasoo shelf. My first impression was omg EXPENSIVE OR WHAT?! There sitting on the shelf were skin care sets ranging $500+
Who has this kind of expendable cash?!
It immediately lost my interest, but being the awkward polite person I am I let her explain their products and benefits. The only thing I was thinking at the time was the price tags of their products. I never been very fond if high end products. Mostly because I either cant afford it or its too strong in fragrances and chemicals which irritate my skin.
Allergic to high end products? lol okay...
Anyway the sales girl finally shows me a compact. Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion..
No thanks! Never been into cream/powder compact foundations.
A sponge, not cream and not powder..
But foundation soaked sponge.
It's one of the best selling Korean cushions on the market.
Its made of herbal products such as ginseng and herbs.
The application is fun easy and the coverage is higher than BB creams as this is a foundation.
It also comes with a free refill!
Nope that's it. She's reeled me in.. I'm ready to close the sale.... *takes out wallet*
"Okay I'll take it, How much it?".............
$98.00AUD
WHAT THE FUCK? NO. I REFUSE. Fuck you and Sulwhasoo. So I politely declined and left...
What the hell are they doing charging customers that much for a compact?!
Anyway. I got home and looked it up and did some research on its benefits pros and con's and even watched some application tutorials.
Her skins looks pretty damn good after using it!
But I ain't paying that much!
It would cut application time in half and its not nearly as messy as applying BB cream.. imagine applying the on the train on the way to work!
But nah its stupidly expensive...
All the girls swear on how long wearing and it feels on their skin even after hours of wear.
I have dry skin and would benefit from that !
This went on for a good 3 weeks..
I was basically torturing myself wondering whether I should have just bitten the bullet and bought it. Also It had been about 3 weeks without a new foundation since I left Missha in disgust totally forgetting to even buy my stock BB...
In all honesty yes, I did see the product for a lot cheaper on line. But nobody got time for that!
If I were to bite the bullet and actually spend my money on it id want it there in my hands and on my face that minute. I'm extremely impatient like that.
So I took a trip back to Missha with intentions of purchasing my new foundation. I was so excited! When I got there, there were 2 other girls behind the counter working that day. I smiled at them and tried to catch their attention, but they ignored me and kept on gossiping to each other. Now let me tell you, I am a shy and laid back person. Things like this doesn't usually bother me. But this day for some reason it REALLY pissed me off. I huffed and puffed while waiting for them to look up at me to assist me. They didn't once look at me. They continued to be in deep LOUD conversation about their lives.
I waved around but nothing. I thought to myself, I came here to ultimately buy this product to have it then and there. But these bitches are being so rude and unhelpful I'd rather buy it on line and not fund their store.
After about 10 minutes one of the ladies finally decided to come over to me to say "can I help you?"
CAN I HELP YOU?!
"Yes you fucking may" is what came out my mouth and that is as rude as I've ever been to a salesperson. I completed my transaction and went home.
Rude ass sales girls aside...
This. Product. Is. Amazing.
The first thing I actually noticed when I opened it was the smell. Its so.. herbal. I'm not able to put my finger on which herbs are most apparent, but I assure you it doesn't smell like your normal foundation for sure.
The packaging is smooth and elegant and fits in my hand nicely and when you open it there is a mirror and an application sponge kind of level.
What you do is take the applicator sponge and squish it down into the product filled sponge so it disperses the right amount on to it.
You then take the applicator and in light movements pat pat pat it all around your face. This application motion creates air between each pat leaving a semi dewy finish. The coverage is medium and is build-able with each layer.
For me the coverage is so great I don't have to use a concealer. Do you know how amazing that it for me? I have pretty uneven skin tone and the WORST dark circles you have ever seen.
But after applying this product it just evens it all out magically. Yay.
The texture certainly feels quite moisturising and it stays feeling freshly applied for at least 4 hours before I personally need to touch up around my mouth and nose, and let me tell you touching up is a breeze. Just re pat pat pat on the areas that need it and usually without having to dispense any more product on the applicator as it is super absorbent. The touch ups look as good as when first applying and doesn't go cakey.
This was WELL worth the money and comes with a REFILL!
So when the product starts to get used up and dry what you can do is take out the sponge and flip it over and TA DA! More product! This can be done a few times before even needing to use your supplied refill. When you do need to change to your refill you just push the underside of the compact to pop the sponge holder out ready to click in your new sponge with comes with a fresh applicator also.
The cushion is a wonderful breakthrough in make up application and I can't even see myself right now going back to the old pump BB or foundation. I will definitely be repurchasing the product in the future and am also excited to try out other brands. But right now. This is my FAVOURITE foundation of all time!
